I had just brought out two fresh moths in our little hanging enclosure. They recently emerged from the depths of the soil patch in our indoor grow room. Wings in the process of hardening in preparation for flight. As I opened the little fabric hatch and gave them my ritual pep talk on this, their first night as adult moths, I stood at the edge of our awning and looked out over the greenhouse in the back of the yard. I pointed to it and mentioned to them that this was a safe place to go visit. There would be other friends to meet and lots of food for their offspring.

I turned my attention to the patch of sky just above, the area were we had witnessed a bright green shooting start about a month ago. I wondered for a very brief instant if I might see another. Just as the thought form entered my mind and my eyes paused on that space, another split across the sky in the same direction as before in nearly the exact place.

I wasn’t expecting it to happen. But then I called myself out and acknowledged that subconsciously, I was.
